Installed 24 panes of double-glazing & 6 flyscreens with winder mechanisms, mainly for thermal performance. Went for the Argon in all units and EV coating in all but north facing windows, which are being combined with an awning to let sun in in the colder months but out in summer. Pietro & his tradesman were a pleasure to deal with & did a great job – it’s old school labour-intensive craftsmanship leaving you with well sealed, smooth operating windows & doors. We’ve also installed a new R/C air-con & it’s able to run on a pretty light cycle with the improved thermal performance of the room. Sound insulation has also been noticeably improved.

The quote was provided and then when he came to do final measure we discussed possible changes which were agreed to after site visit. The windows on the southern side of the house were fitted in one very long day at the beginning of Sept 2018. We are very pleased with the result and finish. The staff who did the fit out were polite and cleaned up after the work was completed which was lovely. We could notice a marked change in temperature within the rooms almost immediately and the noise has reduced a fair bit. I think we should have possibly gone for next level up just for additional noise reducing benefits, as it was we went for double glaze with laminate. We look forward to seeing how they perform when summer arrives and are seriously considering getting all the windows on the northern side of the house done too. Being an engineer I have always known of the benefits of double-glazing. However, due to the costs involved with replacing the double hung sash windows and frames in my Victorian house I never did anything to retro fit more efficient windows. Then, one day with the help of “Mr Google”, I found Thermawood’s website claiming to be able to fit double-glazed panels to my existing sash windows. From my first contact with Thermawood I have found the process to be efficient and very customer friendly. I measured my existing windows and sent these to Thermawood using their spreadsheet. Jacki’s team then quickly developed a budget price. Upon my acceptance of the budget price Thermawood travelled the 200 km to my property, measured the windows themselves and then gave me a firm quote (slightly less than the budget). After I had accepted the quote and paid a 50% deposit the glass was ordered and an installation date nominated. The glass arrived on the day specified. The installation team arrived as nominated and quickly installed my new panels. The installers were courteous and friendly. They left no mess and thoroughly cleaned the worksite. Have the new panels worked? It’s too early to make a judgment, however visitors have commented the house seems warmer. (I have not raised the heating thermostat.) After a few more months I should be able to compare this years gas bills with the last few years. I would highly recommend the Thermawood process and their team.

Can I say that the gents have done a brilliant job on the windows. Very impressive window seals etc and it puts pressure on me to paint them when warm weather allows in Spring I guess. Not the best of days to tell if the windows have made a temp difference as the ABC news/weather said it was the coldest day in Melbourne today since last August and as the windows were being worked on, naturally the cold air sapped the stored heat out of brick work. But I can say so far that the sound mitigation is incredible. It is difficult to hear cars in ***** Street and those passing our home in ***** Street appear much quieter. Primarily looking to improving the security with the laminated option,  however our leadlights and window frames were not in the best condition, and Thermawood was able to rectify this also. When our leadlights returned, the condition and look of them exceeded my expectations. The look of our leadlights now is incredible, the double glazed unit provides an effect which enables light to reflect off the leadlights giving them another incredibly appealing aspect that was previously not possible. As an interior designer, I spend a lot of time working with different trades. Jacki and Hawea were exceptional. I have been looking for affordable and high quality double glazing system for over 5 years. Each time I asked for quotations I was disappointed with the technology let alone the huge cost. It never made sense to me to replace perfectly fine existing window frames as this is very labour intensive and costly. Our 1960s timber windows had double-glazing retrofitted by Thermawood. Very happy with the appearance and performance of the product. While the appearance hasn’t changed noticeably (the look of the timber frames and the low-e film on the glass), the thermal performance has improved significantly. We recently built our new double storey home which faces north. The master bedroom is located upstairs at the front of the building and there are 6 (awning) windows, double balcony doors with sidelights. What this means for us is that the master bedroom becomes unbearably warm even when the outside temperature is in the low 20s. This also contributes to a sizeable electricity bill because the air-conditioning system is having to work harder than it should if the room was better insulated. The situation is made worse by the wind and traffic noise - all of which makes for some uncomfortable and sleepless nights. Downstairs, the main issue was security in terms of the speed and ease for any intruder to access the home through the garage and study which also face north. The thermal considerations were broadly the same as for the upstairs master bedroom. In the search for suitable providers, one of my key concerns was whether I could find providers who would appreciate our sensitivity around retaining the stately look of the home which is partly achieved with the style of façade we chose and in turn, the timber windows. Following some research, I found out about a company called Thermawood. I researched further to gauge the quality of the company, its people and of course, how happy their customers have been. I reached out and was introduced to Ashleigh who I found to be very professional. We were then introduced to Josh as the installer. All of my questions and concerns were dealt with and my wife and I decided to proceed. The installation experience is among the best I’ve ever had – in any category - and I don’t splash out compliments readily. It was clear from commencement of the works that the installation team were professional, clean, careful and achieved truly excellent results. Indeed, I felt they went above and beyond the call. We are so very happy with the results that I offered to write this review. Steve Davies promptly responded to our request for a quote and was very clear in his explanation about the Thermawood system and product, which in our case included restoring the weights and pulleys as well as the timber frames, installing double glazing and thoroughly draught sealing the windows as well.
